Slow posts/No posts
So, I figured I would warn you lovely people that posting is about to get very slow. February has been a very busy month for me with projects, guest spots and conventions happening. It appears my queue has run dry and I will be attending a convention this weekend leaving no time to replenish it. I will also be preparing for a fully booked guest spot in the beginning of March, so it might be awhile...

hemlock-for-socrates asked: I know this is a silly question, but I was wondering if you had any examples of tattoos of a fox? I've searched and googled, but all I have really found is chunky, bad linework or over-complicated sleeves. Just a decent sized fox, instead of a quote.

marissamakesthings asked: I studied art history, work as a graphic designer, and generally know good art. But for some reason I over looked 80% of bad tattoos. (Basically, everything that wasn't obviously hideous.) And now, because of your blog, I can't unsee how much awful ink I'm surrounded by. Thank you thank you thank you!!

fairyleavesfall asked: I've been reading through your blog and it's awesome! However, I was wondering about tattoo rejection? Have you ever heard of a tattoo being rejected by somebody's body? I have rejected every piercing I have gotten (upper ear, nipple, inner ear etc) and was worried that when I finally get a tattoo that it will reject as well. I have a heart condition that requires me to take...

submission: Tardis
I saw this on Tumblr somewhere, I was disappointed that something as cool as the TARDIS was so poorly represented! Unfortunately there are tons of cool tattoos done really poorly out there. I wish people with cool ideas always took the time to seek out good artists, because mostly we are just sitting in the shop waiting for cool stuff to come in. The person who did this tattoo as no concept...

Advice
What are some good ideas for updating lettering/numeral tattoos that have begun to expand/smudge over the years? I have a small I on my wrist and I want to prevent it from turning into basically looking like a tiny bone or bowtie. It was my first tattoo so…I don’t really want to obscure or cover it as it still has a lot of meaning for me, but it’s definitely…a lesson...

Specific tattoo design questions
To the people who have been sending requests for my opinions on their specific planned or existing tattoos, I haven’t been answering anything that I don’t think would benefit a larger majority of the readers as to not clog up my feed with so many text posts. Please use the resources and information in this blog to inform you in seeking a talented and experienced artist who will be able...

Anonymous asked: What are the best reasons for having larger tattoos? I plan on getting my first tattoo within the next two years, and considering my age, I'd need parental consent. It would be done by an incredibly experienced tattoo artist, who is also one of the best in the area. However, my mom thinks my tattoos should be about the size of a quarter. Which is obnoxiously small. I told her its too small,...

Anonymous asked: I'm thinking about getting a tattoo in the coming year, and it will be my first tattoo so I was looking for something on the smaller side. However, I can't seem to find many good examples of good smaller tattoos (google images is the worst). (And when I say small I mean about 10-15cm in diameter). Anyway, I was wondering if you could give advice of where to look for examples of smaller...

Would David Hale tattoos age well?
Having read your blog (it’s great btw!), I now understand that lasting tattoos need to be well defined and pretty solid. I love David Hale (http://davidhale.org/section/90113_Tattoos.html) and am thinking of getting some of his work. Do you think it would age well, without too much loss from fading? David Hale’s pieces are VERY detailed but they are also very abstract. This means...

You need to see this if you haven’t already. Holy shit. http://fyeahtattoos.com/post/17703686252/this-is-my-turtle-tattoo-ive-always-loved wow, like, “you got some turtle shaped spit on you”. There are a ridiculous amount of ways this could have been done better. ETA: a reader says “You totally missed the best part about that spit turtle tattoo, the person who got...

forgivemeannabelle asked: A friend of mine got a knuckle tattoo done and has no previous sleeve work. When I told him he was being stupid I found out he got the tattoo done by a guy with no tattoo experience, at the guy's place, when they were both drunk. Any ideas of the possible consequences of that?

these-shackleson asked: re: the "lumpy" ink, I'm not sure it's necessarily scarring. I have this on one of my tattoos, which was done 2 years ago by an artist with more than 15 years of experience. It's only in one piece though-and only in one of the 3 colors in it! I think it's something in this particular black ink, because it sometimes gets a tiny bit itchy/swollen like an allergic...
